Never use the option -fast for final compiling on vis and light.

On vis use -full and on lights -extra.

Also its always good to work with the SKIP / HINT textures to speed up fps Smilez

Don't enclose your map in one huge box as you can see here, there is an example (says Half life optimizing, but this also applies for quake like maps)
