I was thinking of moving the forum to a new host with better options and alike.

Currently this the site:

http://nzportable.meximas.com/

It uses PHPBB and so does Forumotion, so for Admins the ACP will take very little to get used to.

It is hosted with hostinger, which is Adfree, 2GB Space (I'll explain more about this in a sec), 100GB Bandwith per month, all for free, I have been using hostinger for a while and have never had any problems, the CPanel is very modem (Windows 8 type) and support is good.

2GB Space is our current limit, it isn't much I know but for a forum it's allot, however if the opinions of other's states yes to moving to a new forum I will purchase a Premium Package and a .net domain for the site.

All staff and members will keep their current ranks and positions.

Need the opinions of all of you. Smilez

just have  a blank screen on this site and put in bold red letters :

we have moved to a new efficient and better site host please click the link below to go to it :

http://nzportable.meximas.com/

that's what im thinking to do...
it would help us in two ways ; one to allow the use of this site for rebound to help new members find their way to us. and 2nd it would allow people to know what's happened to the older site.

thanks ,

Yes, that is Possible, it's what we done when we moved to X10Hosting before. :)But they sucked balls as a host. Tongue

EDIT: I'm not sure if it's possible to do the do the part where they have to click it, I think it is possible to redirect so that when they enter our current sub-domain: https://nzportable.forumotion.com/ they get redirected to our new one.

What I could do is put the site under construction mode and use that as the message.

lol i know what you mean my old forums used to use them now they use enjin.com  . lol Smilez

btw i sent you an email with an error i got on the new site take a look in your email.

PM me instead, I no longer have access to the e-mail linked to this account.

EDIT: nvm, got into it. One sec.

EDIT#2: Yeah just sent PM on here, the forum uses PHPBB so any issues will be PM'd to them since I haven't touched the Code of PHPBB.

I see where you're getting the error, after the Registration Page Internal Server Error, I'll check the SQL Database settings.

EDIT: I may have to switch to forum software because the rest work except PHPBB.

EDIT: ERROR FIXED! VeryHappy It seemed to have something to do with PHPBB verifying the e-mail to make sure it was real however E-Mail activation makes this useless.

Alright I'll have to look into it, seems like PHPBB side problem since all the other forum software works.

EDIT: Fixed again and now registration fully working, problem was I never set it up with an E-Mail to use to send , my only concern is that the E-Mail might end up in the Spam box since the board are sending it through my GMail and Google thinks it's phishing. The E-Mail should be from: pentrayt@gmail.com

Hostinger allow 2 e-mails per Account (one that matches the site) so I'll use that

Wwippies handled that message as normal email Smilez

Also why make a site that tells you that you have changed hosts & requires user to click a link?
just put this into your index file (if forumotion allows direct file changes):
Code:

<html>
  <head>
    <title> Redirecting.. </title>
    <script type="text/JavaScript">
      <!--
        setTimeout("location.href = 'http://nzportable.meximas.com/';", 4000);
      //-->
    </script>
  </head>
  <body style="background-color:rgb(0,0,0);">
    <center>
      <h2 style="color:rgb(255,96,96); position:relative; top:128px;">Redirecting you to new forum host!<br>please wait..</h2>
    </center>
  </body>
</html>

Forumotion don't allow that, but I think you can do that through the ACP.

Smart, Just like a Chap.

My internet security keeps blocking the site. Weird.

Seems ok, as long as the host is good. Either way, I don't mind, just remember it ended awfully last time.

Really? O-o The host is UK Based.

Although that might change, thing I like about this is the host can change anytime, all I have to do is move the files.

I personally wouldn't want to switch to any other site. I think this site is getting back to its prime. Tongue

That would actually be the time to make a decision/ Smilez

Also it would be better, Forumotion has allot of restrictions and stupid ads, also with this we can customize the site and install custom forum software, and if we need to switch host, it's simple. Smilez

EDIT: What we could do is keep our current site but clean it p a bit to look like the new one (If I'm not mistaken Forumotion has PHPBB3?) and just use the Domain on this.

I personally like the darker colors of the forum.. just as long as you don't change that, I'm fine. Tongue

Anyways, both sites use PHPBB3, right? So why the need to change to a new host?

@Jman, Please do not quote a post and say nothing. I will delete any future posts I see unfit.

Also Friizy: Stupid ads? But... I like seeing nude women on NZP forums.

Well, not really. I use an ad-blocker and have no issues with them.

The customization I could do with a custom host to PHPBB, and as of current it uses Version 2. Though I'm not the only Admin, nothing is happening if you all don't want it too. Smilez

Sounds cool. :PAlso it seems to be due to lack of ram and resources, obviously this being it's limited but like I said I'm upgrading it to a better plan. ^-^ Also you get a free .co.uk domain with the Premium hosting.

Oh btw when I say ads I include all this unnecessary bullshit like Adlfy, what I'm doing right now is going to order a server from HostGator or GoDaddy.
