NAZI ZOMBIES PORTABLE
What is Nazi Zombies Portable made for? (BLOG)

Nazi Zombies Portable.

A quake mod.

We have zombies, they are nazis too.

A bunch of guns to kill the zombies.

Multiplatform (It is on 1.0 Demo too, just use Emulators).

And the game is Lightweight. Yes, lightweight (Less than 512MB for me is lightweight).

Some people said that NZP is a PSP game, other people just PC, that devs should scrap eachother version...

Well, we start from defining what Portable means.

Portable, means that:
Code:
Able to be easily carried or moved, especially because of being a lighter and smaller version than usual.

From this point, we got a lightweighter version of Nazi Zombies, a Call of Duty 5: World at War gamemode.

Now, we continue saying what does the people say, and what i say.

  • No disrespect to the makers of nzp but 1.1 was garbage compared to this demo. Have u ever played 1.1 on psp. Ever round there is huge drop in fps and it skips when it's a lot of zombies . Animations can't compare to the demo. Bottom line if I'm not mistaken nzp was originally for psp no pc so why not make maps for psp builds of nzp. Of you want nazi zombies on your cpu go download the cod zombies only torrent. Why play zombies thru a quake mod on the pc when u can play real nazi zombies.doesnt the P in NZP MEAN "portable"

Just like the halo 4 mod me and jomart2000 was working on its only for portable use if u wanna play it on the pc just go get halo ce...

Anyway no disrespect to the devs of this game because overall they did a great job I play nzp demo everyday on my vita with both analogs..
Ok, here a NZP FORUM user talks about how NZP improved since 1.1, as we all know, graphically and in terms of optimisation and how better it is now.

    • One of the main points of the quote:
...Bottom line if I'm not mistaken nzp was originally for psp no pc so why not make maps for psp builds of nzp. ...

Here is where people are confused. The mappers arent doing versions for PC/PSP, but for Specific NZP versions. You can play some DEMO maps on PSP, or on PC with PPSSPP Emulator. Maybe in the past, we got a lot of trouble with that, because of PSP optimization problems, that are actually minimized, but, actually the main problem with maps is the map optimization, which makes some maps unplayable. That's a thing I'm gonna talk about later, but keep in mind, 80% of mappers at least dont optimizate their maps.

    • Next Point:
Of you want nazi zombies on your cpu go download the cod zombies only torrent.

I dont really like to talk about Warez, but man, seriously, we know that we can do it, but i still prefer to play other stuff than playing warez (That doesnt mean i dont download warez, neither i do).

    • Next Point:
Why play zombies thru a quake mod on the pc when u can play real nazi zombies.

Well, I get that people will prefer the original game a million times over NZP, but the objective is to get people know this. This game is an awesome mod, UNIQUE, because kinda all PSP quake mods are scrapped or forgotten, this still being developed, MORE UNIQUE because have a little community that still do stuff (me included) and EVEN MORE UNIQUE, because this game is Open Source.

    • Next Point:
doesnt the P in NZP MEAN "portable"

Mean Portable? It does. As you read before, Portable doesnt mean that is for PlayStation Portable (Actually it does, the name came from that), but remember that I have defined Portable as a Lightweight version of something, like the PSP is a Lightweight Handheld version of a Console, even a PC, we can define it as a piece of software that is imitating the other game, but a light way. I want you to understand that even Lightweight stuff is made to be run on other platforms too, even using tools.

    • Next Point:
Just like the halo 4 mod me and jomart2000 was working on its only for portable use if u wanna play it on the pc just go get halo ce...

I can play that mod (if its released somewhere) on PC. Either if you want or not, I still will be able to play it on PC.

    • Next Point:
Anyway no disrespect to the devs of this game because overall they did a great job I play nzp demo everyday on my vita with both analogs..

You play all days NZP Demo on PSP, as i do on PC. No words.

  • My point of view:
  • As you read, you can figure that I play on PC more than PSP. There are tons of reasons, but one of them, is the use of controller. Better than PSP ones, Smoother, Softer, generally BETTER.

Other of them could be the easy code manipulation for developers.

Other, the multiplayer systems that could be used to make NZP Multiplayer work, both on PSP and PC.

    The Speed of gameplay.

The quality of the graphics and Resolution VS the native PSP one.

I can continue, but I prefer to continue as i dont have much time to write this.

  • Conclussion:
  • Its made for PSP, but at the moment, we can use it wherever we want. I dont really want a PC port, because it will even break more the NZP community, yet being broken by the version wars (1.1 BETA vs 1.0 DEMO).

As a community member, i still prefer to do community stuff, as an indie gamer and "SOME KINDA" developer, i still prefer being in a indie game community like this, than a big company game community like COD.

Please members of NZP Forums, think about version wars, and why are we telling so much stuff against PC(We didnt talked about MACS, but maybe the same).

What i said about MAP OPTIMISATION: (Works for NZP too, may do a tutorial) http://www.optimization.interlopers.net/index.php?chapter=intro

I honestly think NZP is more-or-less COD 1 zombies. Uses the same kind of engine!

This is a great analysis, though there are a few spelling mistakes here and there. (Obvs because you're a Spaniard.)

Very well done, it's nice to see someone cares so deeply about this topic.

There's a big difference between the Quake 3 Engine used in Call of Duty 1 and the Quake 1 Engine used in NZP. Both are modified also and there is a big difference.

Moved to Announcements and pinned.

i thought the game was also suppose to be for people who couldn't handle the real thing. and also, most mac users can't play the real thing.

NZ:P is so much more than a petty game.

NZ:P is a lifestyle, it is a choice that the devs made, a choice that the admins made, a choice that I made to (in essence) revolve around for years. Nazi Zombies Portable was, from what I see, the beginning of the developer's transition into computer science and the like. Though only three real members remain, it's become more than just a game for a small community. It's allowed them to transition into the next stages of their lives. It holds the ability to look back on something and think "that was pretty good, but I can do so much better," or, "this reminds me of my youth." It's like a song, a book, something that is physical (or can be converted to be so) and obtainable that you can reach out and grab to hold on to. Not for fun or to play, but for nostalgic reference.

We must always realize that there's beauty behind simplicity, like how a mod becomes so much more than just code. Much like a forum is no longer a place to simply post maps and progress reports, but to go to socialize, as the name forum intends.

Digging within the forums, you find traces of past lives. The dates on posts are merely the time-stamp of the time period. We all will go on, to lead separate lives, but we are all connected back to this seemingly barebones forum and game because we all liked to play it. Playing games is not just a way to pass time, but it is a lifestyle as well. It helps us to learn and grow, to help us develop socially as well as not be afraid to show ourselves behind anonymity. We grow to respect others, we learn to be polite, we realize the true capability of what gaming does to people.

We have to realize that one of these days we will all do other things, as we intend to do. Yes, some will continue to work on things like this, because it is their passion. Not everyone here is a computer engineer, or intends to be. Some want to go into politics. Others have not told me what they want to do. Without a doubt though, we will all be able to reminisce about how we spent some of the most crucial years of our lives on this forum. We are not bound to it, but we still come here because it represents something that we longed for, something that we are attached to.

This is the reason why I like this place, because it feels so damn close to home. If I didn't like it, I would ever have come back after I sent a message to Pod when I started becoming active on the forums, asking whether or not it's okay to use ripped content on the forums. If I didn't like the feel of this place, I wouldn't have stuck around or signed my name on the message I sent to Pod. That's why I like to do things on this forum, because it's just so much more than a message board.

Nazi Zombies Portable is so much more than a fucking game.

Wow guys.

I wasn't sure that I wasn't the only one who felt more than an attachment to this project.

I know this game means and has always meant a lot to me, that's why I've never abandoned it regardless of how much it doesn't make sense to continue it. (Economic reasons, moving on reasons, etc...)

I didn't really want to do this, but you guys have unleashed the feels flood gate, so here we go...

When I first joined this project (oh so many years ago... about a third of my life ago), I joined in as somebody who could do some pretty mediocre things, but god damn was I determined to do the best I could and to be a part of something cool.

Want to know one of the biggest reasons I've stuck around for so long? The community.
I feel that I owe such a huge gratitude to those who stuck around throughout the several life cycles of this game. It still has not fully settled that there's actually people out there that really enjoy what I have dedicated so much of myself to doing.

I honestly want to say that one of the absolutely most nostalgic things I can do in my life, is scroll throughout all of the images I've posted on moddb, Sure, one can see how I've grown as a developer through them. But more importantly to me, once can see and read all of the amazing positive support the community has given this project.

Looking back at it, I cannot fathom how some of the posts received such positive support, but I am so damn thankful for it. It pushed us to the next level, to learn and undertake things that we otherwise wouldn't have thought possible, because with the community at our side, we felt damn near invincible.

It still blows my mind that there is a following for this project today, and this is partly the reason why I've decide to be much more active on these forums, to try and give back just a small fraction of everything the community has given this project, even if that means that I'm uber-busy doing other things.

As has been duly noted, this game was a huge beginning for a lot of us, both on the dev team, and not. Whether we care to admit it or not, the time spent here will remain as a piece of us that we carry with us throughout our lives.

Some people might not think that this community is special. NZP may not be that great of a game. The NZP dev team may be mediocre developers working on just another Quake mod or ripoff Call of Duty clone.

But god damnit, this project, this forum, this community, is home.

Thanks everyone.

In other news, I still can't find my shoes.

Well that was interesting. I haven't got much to put here. I am part of the community, yes, but I have always kept at the edges, and never gotten into the midst of it all like some of the others. But that's just me xD

NZP is more than a game to me and many, yeah. I was at school one day and found NZP somewhere/somehow, and after learning about how you can make maps for it (after seeing this forum), I set out on a journey to learn mapping, which has evolved from Worldcraft Alt level to Hammer Shift+W level (Which you may or may not understand me there xD). From NZP -> Quake -> HL2 -> TF2, I've worked on multiple maps, and I don't know if I would ever have helped in a popular mod for HL2, worked on a map for the Steam Workshop, worked on mods for multiple games etc., if I hadn't seen nzpmaps.forumotion.com. I would probably be working on game programming right now, instead of game content creation, because I always used game maker (gml, not drag and drop) as a hobby before I started NZP mapping.

I don't want to take any longer posting this, so I'll cut it off here.
